  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was another type of tax, it put taxes on all things made of paper which required a stamp to show the tax had been paid. The colonist did not want to pay for this tax since it was to pay for the British troops that were there, after a year of unsuccessfulness the British government repealed the act.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
The Quartering Act made it so that colonists had to house any soldier that came to them, the colonists had to provide them with housing, food, etc. The colonists did not like this since they had no say in it and had to house the soldiers by law, the colonies resisted, and eventually, the act was removed by 1767.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
Charles Townshend had calculated that the colonies would be more willing to pay taxes for imported goods rather than local goods, which he was wrong about.
  • The Quartering Act of 1774

    The Quartering Act of 1774
Much like the first quartering act, this act required colonists to provide housing for soldiers, but it did not require them to provide provisions this act was still not liked but was more tolerable, it expired on March 24th, 1776.
