The National American Women's Sufferage Association was established as the National Women's Suffurage Association and the American Women's Suffrage Association groups joined into one. They worked for women's sufferage and other benifits for women. -
Pullman Strike
3,000 employees of the Pullman Palace Car Company in Pullman, Illinois, went on strike because of reduced wages. Railroads boycatted Pullman cars. The stike was broken up by the US Army. Pullman's Company was then said to be un-American. -

Tuskegee Institute
Booker T. Washington established Tuskegee Institute in Alamaba for Black people. He believe that Blacks could be accepted into society if they had skills to share. Hundredes of Blacks attented. -
The Jungle is Published
Upton Sinclair's The Jungle is Published displaying to the public the horrible conditions that people work in. Society recognized the gross conditions that meat was being packaged in. Even though his book did not have the effect he wanted people become arware of how muckracking could cause an impact. -
Triangle Shirtwaste Fire
146 female workers died in a factory fire. The factory had one fire escape and cluttered and close conditions. Doors to the factory were locked and the workers could not escape as the fire spred quickly. This event made people pay attention to workers condition. -
WIlson becomes President
Woodrow Wilson wins the presidental campaign because the republican party was split due to Roosevelt creating a third party. In office Wilson worked very hard on helping the people. He passed many bills that contributed to the reform. -
Federal Trade Commission Act passes
This act passed by Wilson allowed the government to closely inspect companies that were being unfair to the people. This was a way to prevent monopolies and unregular prices; The railraods and meat plants were the first places look at. -

Tax on Employment of Child Labor
President Woodrow WIlson signed a law that placed a ten percent tax on businesses that employed children under 14 and made them worker more than 8hrs. a day. People where recognizing the horrible conditions that children were working in. -
19th Amendment ratified
After many years of work the National American Women's Sufferage Association is victorious. The 19th amendment gave women the right to vote.
