It's kindergarten class and I'm impatiently waiting for one of my peers to finish reading page three of the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Once my teacher realized that I've already finished the book she took me to the principal's office because she thought I was "gifted." That's when it started I believe.

My sister was once reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days and burst into laughter after reading a certain part. Since then, I've read that book more times than I can count and I still laugh at the same part. This book then led me to reading the rest of the books in the series.

Once I got my library card, I was constantly checking out books at the NY public library. I browsed the kid section and came across what would be my newest obsession: the Dork Diaries series by Rachel Renee Russell. I started from book one and finished the entire series in just a month!

As my book obsession grew stronger, I grew hungrier for more genres. At the time, the scholastic book fair solved my problems. Every time I got a magazine for the book fair, I made sure to buy a book of a different genre every time. Whether it be fiction, nonfiction, biography, etc, I made sure to buy it and read it. Although, I didn't particularly enjoy some of them, I still read them.

Although I enjoyed reading books that were meant for my age, I always knew that I somehow wanted something a little more mature. So, by the 6th grade, I started reading young adult novels. Novels that were more or so rated for 16 year olds and above. My favorite author quickly became John Green after reading The Fault in Our Stars and Looking For Alaska.

    Aspiring Author?
After reading several adult fiction novels, I decided at the ripe age of 11 that I too could write one. Obviously, it wasn't very good. However, since I read multiple adult fiction books, I just copied the style used in the books. I took note of what young adults relate to and let my imagination roam wild. In hindsight, it was a great mind exercise, trying to write just like your favorite author.

After feeling like I couldn't write any books, I fell into a slump. Every great book reminded me of how poor of a writer I was. So, I stopped reading for fun. This lasted about a year

Over quarantine, I started to read far more than I ever thought I could. However, considering the libraries were closed, I had to read books online. This is where I discovered wattpad. I would read books about my favorite artists, romance, mystery, anything! I fell back in love with reading and have loved it more and more since.
