    Paradigm Shifts
In 1962, Thomas Kuhn wrote a book titled “The Structure of Scientific Revolutions”. In this book, he presented his idea of paradigm shifts, and is said to be the most cited book in history. (Yhoe, 2006)

    Paradigm Shifts Cont
Kuhn’s proposed idea of paradigm shift stated that science was not necessarily just a linear study of particular topics that continued to progress in time, but that science was impacted by these shifts and forced to view a field of study from a new perspective.
  • Incommensurability Cont

Kuhn’s proposal of incommensurability stated that science that was conducted prior to a paradigm shift were not comparable to science that was conducted present day. The technology and understanding of a particular topic were not even comparable with how different they were studied. Since the methods for the research, as well as the general understanding of the topic in general, had changed so much, the two were not able to be accurately compared. (Kuhn, 1970)

    Incommensurability
The other think Kuhn is most known for is incommensurability. It was mentioned in his book written in 1962, revised in 1970, titled “The Structure of Scientific Revolutions”. This changed how scientists saw previous research, especially that which was conducted prior to major changes in science and society. (Kuhn, 1970)
