President William McKinley was shot in Buffalo, New York, while shaking hands with the public by Leon Szologosz on September 6, 1901. McKinley died on September 14, 1901 and Theodore Roosevelt was sworn in. Leon was sentenced to death by electric chair. -

Roosevelt refused to run for president again and took a trip to Africa along with his son. Set out to hunt big game and collect specimens. Hunted down 17 lions, 11 Elephants and 20 rhinoceroses and 512 in total. -

Known for advanced positions of progressive and populist reforms. The Progressive party, but called Bull-Moose because he said he felt “Strong as a Bull Moose.
