Then the British set fire on the American boat which killed 3 and wounded 18. The American's surrendered due to not being ready for this situation. Major General Andrew Jackson, defeated an invading British Army who tried to take control of New Orleans and the large amount of territory that the United States had gained with the Louisiana Purchase.
