Americans surprised the British in York and outnumbered the British since most British forces were with Kingston. The Americans burned the capital and angered the British. -
The Battle at Lake Erie
The americans took down the British in a naval battle in lake Erie. There was six ships in the British fleet and nine ships in the American fleet. The Americans then recaptured Lake Erie. -
Tecumseh
Tecumseh is a Shawnee chief, skilled military leader and a brilliant speaker. He helped the British in the battle of Thames when the Americans were persuing the British. -
Red Eagle
Red Eagle was a chief of the Creek forces. He and his forces destroyed Fort Mim which was in American possession. At a later date he surrendered to Andrew Jackson and his forces. He also had to give up all land he owned (millions of acres). -
Dolly Madison
She was the presidents wife and the first woman of James Madison. She is famous ,because she saved a famous George Washington painting when the British were burning Washington. -

After seeing the British pelt an American fort and when the smoke cleared the American flag still stood. This inspired the Star Spangled Banner. -
The Treaty of Ghent
The Treaty of Ghent was signed in Belgium to end the war. American and British diplomats had finally come ot a conclusion on the war. Even though it was signed, battles still commenced. -
The Battle of New Orleans
The British tried to attack New Orleans as an attempt to takeover America but, the Americans totally decimated Britians army. Weird thing is that this battle happend after the Treaty of Ghent. -

James Madison declares war is over because he recieved the Treaty of Ghent. There was peace between Britian and America. Still after the war, the problems like impressement and the trade embargos.
