Wedding of King Pelius and Thetis
The wedding was planned by Zeus and took placeon Mt. Pelion. Mortal and Immortals alike were invited and all required to bring gifts. The goddess of discord was the only immortal not invited. She threw out a golden apple inscribed with the words "For The Fairest." Three goddesses, Hera, Aphrodite, and Athena began to fight over the apple. Zeus handed the decision over to Trojan, Paris, who gives the apple to Aphrodite. Aphrodite inturn offers him Helen, wife of Menelaus, King of Sparta -

After Paris chose Aphrodite, she didn't say that Helen was married to the King of Sparta, King Menelaus. -

Paris steals Helen
King Menelaus goes to Crete, and while he is gone, paris steals Helen and takes her back to Troy. -

Menelaus finds out that Helen is gone.
King Menelaus calls for the Greek army to go to Troy and bring her back. -
