Virgina was founded
In 1607, Virginia became the first permanent English colony in North America. The first colonists came to Virginia to search for gold. -
The first Thanksgiving

The colony of Maryland began in 1632, when King Charles the 1st gave land in North America to Cecilius Calvert. Calvert also known as Lord Baltimore was a Catholic. -
Rhode Island was founded
Roger Williams was dissenter who wanted more religious freedom. In 1636, Williams founded a new colony that became known as Rhode Island. -
Pennsylvania and Delaware were founded
The colony of Pennsylvania was the idea of William Penn. Penn made fair treaties with the Delaware, or Lenni Lenape NA's when he bought land from them. -

During the late 1600's England, France, and Spain all claimed land that was South of Virginia. Colonists first settled the Southern of Carolina. -

The proprietors of New Jersey all wanted to make money from there colony's. Because proprietors lived in England, it was difficult for them to control there fairway property.
