    1785 to 1801 - USA's First Public University

    UGA was the first public university in the USA. The construction of UGA led to a substantial increase of the academic level in Georgia

  • 1783 - Cotton Gin Invented

    The Cotton Gin greatly increased the production of cotton and tripled the number of slaves in the south. Eli Whitney's invention made cotton nomically viable crop and would soon be known as the king because of well it improved the south's economy.

  • 1795 - Yazoo Land Fraud

    Legislators illegally bribed the land that made up the Mississippi for $500,000. However a new lottery system was adopted, and the land from the Creeks/ Cherokee payed for by the fraud turned into farms for new settlers.
