  • The Battle of Gonzales

    The Battle of Gonzales
    The Battle of Gonzales was the first to ever take place in the Texas Revolution. It was fought near Gonzales, Texas on October 2, 1835. In 1831, Mexican authorities gave the people of Gonzales a cannon. Later on, Colonel Domingo de Ugartechea, the commander of all Mexican troops in Texas, felt unsafe that he gave the people of Gonzales, Texas, a weapon they could use to fight. Ugartechea sent 100 dragoons to get the cannon using peaceful methods. The cannon was buried and rediscovered in 1936.
  • The Battle of Goliad

    The Battle of Goliad
    The Battle of Goliad was the second fought battle of the Texas revolution. Texas settlers attacked the Mexican army soldiers who were at Presidio La Bahia. In September the Texans already had planned to kidnap Mexican general, Martin de Cos. Texans soon learned Cos and his men had already went to San Antonio de Bexar, but still continued their march to Goliad.

    The Siege of Bexar
    The Siege of Bexar was when the Texas Republican Army marched in on San Antonio de Bexar. San Antonio was the main place for Mexican army troops. Over the next few months, the Texas army kept San Antonio de Bexar under a close watch. Two weeks later, the Texan army struck. They took San Antonio de Bexar on December 9, 1835. Later on, Santa Anna was mad at the Texans so he gathered a army and marched in on San Antonio de Bexar. Hearing this, Sam Houston called for the men to abandon the town.

    The Battle of Concepcion
    This was the first battle of which the Mexican army retreated first. The Mexican army started to route out when the cannon started firing. Mexicans lost, sixty-seven killed and over thirty men wounded. Ninety-two Texans routed four hundred of the main Mexican army.

    The Battle of the Alamo is one of the most important events that happened in all of Texas history. The battle occurred February 23, 1836 and it happened near the Mission San Antonio de Valero, now known as the Alamo. The battle was fought by the Republic of Texas and the country of Mexico. The battle was a loss for the Texan army, as Mexico won. The Texans fought as hard as possible, but still the Mexican army came through and killed every last soldier.
