    The Battle of Gonzales
    A small scuffle between Texas rebels and Mexican officials. Texans were angry over the new decree stating that American citizens were prohibited from coming to Mexico. Texans were enraged, and picked a fight with Mexican officials.

    On March 1, George C. Childress set up the Texas Declaration of Independence. The next day, over 40 delegates from different regions came together to sign it. This Declaration was not too different from America's.

    Houston's army destroyed Vince's Bayou Bridge to prevent the Mexican army from retreating. Houston sent Deaf Smith and several other men to destroy the bridge. This ensured the victory of the Texans.

    Santa Anna Signs the Treaties of Velasco
    After the Battle of San Jacinto, Santa Anna fled. A few days later, he was captured and brought to Sam Houston. Taken prisoner, he agreed to give Texas in return for his life.
