Parker was accused on raping a white woman and was jail for this assumption but soon killed after being kidnapped from the jail. This event is important because this showed that many African American's were jailed based on racial assumptions and differences. -
Freedom Riders
A group of college students rode to Southern areas to show that intergrating traveling routes can be peaceful. This was important because this ended travel segregation. -
Moore assassination
Moore was doing a march one his own to have racial equality but he was killed during his protest. This was important because this shows that many many people wanted African American's to get their civil rights. -
Police brutality in Birmingham
Many African American children were protesting in Birmingham about their Civil Rights however, the police used dogs and a high-pressured jet sprayed on them. This is important because this shows the great risks African American's went to for their rights. -
Assassination of Medgar Evers
Evers was a Civil Rights activist that protested against segregation with the NAACP as their secretary; he was soon assassinated by a WCC member. This event is important because he was a African American leader that wanted his people to succeed and he was killed by a member that wanted to keep segregation/ rights towards African American's. -
Church bombing
Four young girls were killed in the bombing of 16th Street Baptist Church in Alabama by a member of the KKK. This event is important because this shows that many innocent African American's died because of racial ethnic. -
Civil Rights workers murdered
Three workers were working on the "Freedom Summer" campaign but were killed by a group of KKK members. This event is important because this made African American's insist that the Civil Rights act of 1964 and the Voting Act of 1965 to be passed. -
Marcher killed
He was a Civil rights protester that was killed by a state trooper; although he was not armed. This is important because this caused the Selma to Montgomery marches as a way to show that racism needed to end. -
Death of MLK Jr.
King was a Civil Rights activist that wanted equality for all African American's and used non-violence; he was assassinated by James Earl Ray. This event is important because this shows that African American's were determined to get their rights regardless on it's threats to their lives or families.
