USS Maine is destroyed
USS Maine was harbored in Havana harbour when suddenly it's bottom was blown up, possibly by a mine. The incident caused 260 officers and men to lose their lives.
It is important to history because if that never happened the press would never have yellow journalism, and in turn the U.S. probably wouldn't have started the Spanish American War. -
