Chapter 4- The silver sword
In this chapter Joseph has returned to his home town Warsaw and he meets a boy called Jan who has a silver paper knife. This chapter is important because it is when joseph decides to go to Switzerland to look for his wife. This chapter is also important because it shows how Jan gets the silver sword. In this chapter we learn how to be hopeful and persistant because joseph is hopeful and motivated to find his wife. Quote- in this wilderness people still managed to go on living. -
Chapter 29- The new beginning
In this chapter the family are all reunited and the war is over, Ruth becomes a teacher and Edek starts school in engenieering. The family carry on with their lives. This chapter is important because it shows how the family is in the future and it has a happy ending. From this book we learn how to be hopeful, brave and persistent most of all but in this chapter I think we learn how to appreciate our family. Quote-during the war his mind had suffered more than body and minds take longer to heal. -
Chapter 10- More help from Ivan
in this chapter the four children's friend, Ivan gives them shoes for their journey to Switzerland. This chapter is important because it is when their journey to Switzerland officially starts and Ivan is one of the people that made it possible for them to go. From this chapter we can learn how to be generous even if times are rough because Ivan was generous by giving the kids shoes. Quote- war does strange things to young people. -
Chapter 14- City of the lost
The four kids have arrived in Berlin and Switzerland is just around the corner. They are staying in a refugee camp when they see a chimpanzee come through the door and then run away. This chapter is important because it shows them in the middle of their journey to Switzerland. In this chapter we learn how to be positive because In the story it says they left the station laughing and shouting because they were happy. Quote- they left the station shouting and laughing, for their spirits were high.
