The Decembrists was the 3,000 person army that protested Nicholas the First taking assumption of czar, as his brother wasn't accepting the position. -
Nicholas II Becomes Czar of Russia
Nicholas II became czar of Russia when his father died. He didn't have any government experience. His reign over Russia, as a czar, will be the last. -
Russion Japanese War
Russia wanted access to the Pacific Ocean in Korea for a warm water port. Japan, however, wanted more of Korea. They ended up fighting for the land, and Nicholas II's troops lost terribly. -
Bloody Sunday
Workers stood at the czar palace, demanding the right of speech and vote. In reaction to this, Nicholas the Seconds, the current czar, ordered his army to kill the protesters. 5,000 were condemned to death, while others were forced to go to labor camps. -
Russia in WW1
Nicholas II sends Russia into WW1, to fight Germany and Austria. After a terrible loss, by 1917 the economy falls, and there is talk of rebellion. -
The March Revolution
Russian workers began to strike against the government, demanding bread. The czar sent out force to suprres the protesters, but failed. This lead to Nicholas II abdicating, and the Provisional Government to be set up. -
Nicholas II Abdicated His Throne
Nicholas II steps down from his position of power, after many revolts and rebellions. The Provisional Government temporarily takes his place, until the Bolshevicks take over. -
Russian Civil War
Fought 1918-1921, between Red and White army. People who supported the new communist government joined the Red Army, and those who opposed the new communists joined the White Army. It was a war won by the Red Army, the communists. -
Creation of USSR
Led by Vladimir Lenin, the rebels overthrough the czarist government. They then founded the USSR, the first official communist government. -
Vladimirs Lenin's Death
Lenin died after a third stroke. There was then a power struggle between Stalin and Trotsky to become the next Russian leader. Stalin won
