    Magna Carta

    Magna Carta
    The Magna Carta was signed by King John on the fields of Runnymed by Windsor Castle. It was an agreement between the barons and the king of the time. It was making the king agree to govern his people according to feudal law. It also allowed 25 barons to (as a group) veto the power of the king and the king would have to obey that veto.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    The purpose of this document was to prevent people, mainly Puritans VS Non-Puritans, from being upset with one another, and it also put one person, not a king, in power to make decisions for the colony.
  • Petition of Rights

    Petition of Rights
    The rights that were given to the people are restrictions on non-parlimentary taxation, forced housing of soldiers, imprisionmentt without cause, and the use of martial law. It was King Charles and the house of lords that signed this document.
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights
    It was Queen Mary and King William of Orange that signed the English Bill of Rights and it gave the people (Protestants) the right to bear arms.
  • Beginning of the French and Indian War

    It was mainly the colonist an Britain against the French and the Native Americans in this war. A very important battle in this war was the Battle of Fort Duquesne, in Pittsburg PA. In the end the British won and becasue of the war the relations between America and Britian went down hill. Mostly because the British heavly taxed the Americans to pay for the war.

    This plan was suggested by Ben Franklin, and even though he was really smart they never put his plan into action. However there was a popular cartoon based off of it, the quote was "join or die" with some pieces of a cut up snake.

    This is when king george is crowned, he changed relationships between him and the American people by the increase in taxes from the french and Indian war. Also people didn't like they had to house the soldiers that fought in the war.
  • Stamp Act

    The items that were affected by this tax were offical papers,, land, dice, cards, newspapers, lisences, and degrees. England choose these thing to try and keep the American population with less education, make them pay for it and less people will want to/ can be educated. The response to this act was what we now refer to as "no taxation withour t representation".
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    In this tragic event 5 colonist were killed. The events leading up to this tragedy was the heavy taxation burden and the way the troops in America were enforcing it.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The party that lead this revolt was the Sons of Liberty, and the British (unhappy about the spilled tea) responded by closing the port of Boston and inforced the Intolerable Acts.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Bristish passed what is now known as the Intolerable Acts becasue of the Boston Tea Party, they thought by passing these acts they would regain control of the American people. When these acts became in place the British did;
    1. Colsed all the Boston Ports until they paided for the Boston Tea Party
    2.Brisish restricted colonists to have gov./committee/town meetings.
    3. Briian allowed their troups to be housed whenever and wherever in colonists homes.
    4. Tried British men in the britsih court
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    Peyton Randolph, Henry Middleton, and Charles Thomson were people who were involved in the first meeting. One of the major issues at the time they addressed was a boycott on all British goods. This meeting was called the First Continental Congress and took place in Carpenter's Hall in Philly Pennsylvaina.
  • Lexington And Concord

    Lexington And Concord
    The resulting point of lexington and concord was the the Revolutionary War started. The Generals involved in this event were; Generals John Pitcairn, Hugh Percy , Hon Parker, James Barrett, Hon Buttrick, William Heath, Joseph Warren, Issac Davis.   • Second Continental Congress

    It took place in Philly, PA with ever state except Georgia represented. Some of the names were George Washington, Ben Franklin, John Handcock, Peyton Randolph and Thomas Jefferson. The ideas that came out of this meeting encluded, the Declaration of Causes, War plans,and the Olive Branch Petition.
