  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Birtish placed taxes on sugar, wine and other goods. They did this to develop greater security for the colonists. The taxes were placed all around Great Britain.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    George Greenville brought the idea to Parliament to help with the resolution of the Stamp Bill. The idea and discussion of the act occured in Great Britain. After few months of organization and discussion the act was passed and put into effect.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    Households were required to house soldiers. This act was passed by the British Parliament. The Act emphasized that all households, local businesses or barns, abandoned buildings would be used for housing. Many colonies including New York disagreed with the Act.
  • Sons of Liberty Formed

    Sons of Liberty Formed
    The Sons of Liberty were formed in 1766, to the exact date we are oblivious. However, their first major appearance or public act was made on March 31. These men were origianlly a group of American patriots who sought out to protect the rights of colonists. The elite group of men originated in Boston.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    Taxes placed on glass, paint, oil, paper and tea. The idea for the taxes came to being so they co they could make money to fund and administrate the colonies. The taxes again were passed by the British Parliament. The act was also an attempt to keep buying inside the British Tea company instead of other company's.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A large street fight between the Red Coats and the Colonists in Boston. After beeing rioted and attacked by the colonists, because they were sick of them moving into their city and pressing unfair taxes, the Red Coats fired into the mob wounding 8 and killing 3.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    In Boston, many colonists dressed as Mohawk Indians raided tea cargo ships at their docks and dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor. The total value of tea dumped valued to around 18,000 dollars. This was a stunt against high taxes pressed on tea.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The colonists were sick of the unfair taxes and acts being passed and pressed onto them. This lead to the Boston Tea Party. IN retaliation the British set several other acts to bring colonists back under the control of the KIng. These acts became known as the Intolerable Acts.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    Met in Carpenters Hall in Philidelphia. Delegeates were sent to discuss the "enactment" of the Coercive acts by the Britsh Parliament. In turn they drafted a decleration of rights.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Was the kick-off of the Revolutionary War. The war started while trying to seize a weapons cache however subliminaly the true reason was to win freedom from the Parliament. The seizing of the cache alarmed the Red Coats which sparked the war.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Second Continental Congress
    Colonists were discussing how to create a militia to help defending themselves in case of an attack. This meeting also took place in the State House of Philidelphia (Indepedence Hall).
  • Decleration of Independence

    Decleration of Independence
    A document that symbolized American Independence from Britain. The 5 man committee including Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin signed and created the treaty during the revolutionary war. They were the representitives of the colonists full intentions.
