    Proclamation of 1763
    -King James stated that the Appalachian Mountains were western boundaries to the colonies.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    -It lowered the tax on molasses that was imported from the colonist.
    -It was placed to stop smuggling.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    -Made so that parliment could raise money
    -This placed tax on materials that were printed in the colonies
    -Every printed material had get a stamp put on it.
  • Townshend Acts tax colonial imports

    -passed to avoid conflicts from stamp act
    -the taxes only applied to imported goods
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    -When the Boston colonists got tired of redcoats stealing goods, fighting boys who messed with them.
    -Weapons included sticks, stones, shovels, clubs, snowballs, oyster shells, etc..
    -Five colonists died.
  • Samuel Adams sets up a comittee of correspondence

    -Samuel Adams revived it
    -it brought many protestors together to oppose British measures
  • Boston Tea Party

    -342 chest of tea were dumped into the sea.
    -men disquised themselves as mohawks and got on board the ships.
  • Intolerable Acts

    -passed because King George III realized that Britain was losing their control on the colonies.
  • First Continental Congress Meets

    -55 men came to the city in Philadelphia.
    -sent delegates from all of the colonies except for georgia
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord are Foughts

    -the redcoats went to Lexington at dawn.
    -70 minutemen were alerted by Revere and Dawes
    -8 minutemen died
