Religious requirement for voting
In most colonies people were not aloud to vote unless they were with the state church. Only male men with some land were aloud to vote and you also had to be a member of the church. -
Pilgrims
The pilgrims came to the new world looking for religious freedom but were knocked off course and ended up in present day Massachusetts. They ended up making friends with the Native Americans and this is also where the first thanksgiving comes from. -
Puritans
This group believed that they could change the Anglican church to there liking. They came to the new world for this religious freedom but they were not tolerant of other religions and they were very strict about it. -
Maryland
New england was not the only place where people were fleeing religious persecution. Lord baltimore was given a small plot of land in the new world and saw it as a way to grant religious freedom. -
