India's Early Struggle
British controlled most of the Indian subcontinent. Indians were led to beleive that the British were not only controlling them geographically but also reigion-wise wanting to change then into christians. -

The sepoy mutiny were troops inside the British Army that were Indian and Indians refused to had refused new cartidges that contained meat and pork which were repugnant to Muslims and Hindus and created a friction between the opposing forces and the mutiny of the sepoy captured Delhi -
India's First Independence War
Began because of the Sepoy Mutiny the british and the Mutiny went head to head and it resulted that the British Crown rule was established in India, closing a century of control by the East India Company -
Indian National Congress
A group of middle-class intellectuals in India, some of them British, founded the Indian National Congress to be a voice of the Indians and reported it to the British. This was the first step to eventually create the Congress Party. -
Gandhi kicked out of Train
Gandhi was kicked out of the train because the train officer beleived that a colored man should not be in first class and kicked him out because of that. -
Bengal Partition
Separated the Muslim majority from the Hindu majority and it was done by the Viceroy of India -
The Muslim League
The Muslim League was formed in order to fight Independence from the British. Although Indians and Muslims didn't cope too much they did get topgether in this to claim their self-government. -
Indians Troops Return From WW1
Indian troops returned home expecting to be trated equally and good by the British and this caused violence between the two countries and India's nationalism intensified. -
Rowlatt Act
British passed this act because of violence. This act stated that there could be jail protesters for as long as 2 years without trial -
The Amritsar Massacre
Brigadier Dyer orders troops to shoot unarmed demonstartors in Amritsar killing 379. Massacre convinces Gandhi that India must demand full independence from the British. -
Firmness in Truth
Gandhi formulates a strategy that is non cooperational and non violent against India's British rulers. Decides to wear only homespun clothes. -
Indian Protests
There began to occur violence over all of India and protests and riots happended and Gandhi wanted them to be non-violent. -
Gandhi Begins to Fast
Gandhi started to fast which is to stop eating in order for protesters to end violence and the violence did stop. -
Gandhi is Imprisoned
Gandhi is imprisoned for 6 years but fortunately he was released after 2 years not 6 -
The Salt March
Gandhi and his followers marched about 240 miles in a peacefull protest to show the British that they won't buy their taxes and that they will get their own salt from the sea. -
Self-Rule Act
The British Parliament passes the india act and gave them not all but at least some self-rule. This didn't achieve them complete Independence but almost. -
WW2 Troops
India resistance to the biritsh intensified when the British sent Indian army into WWII without talking to the colonies respected electives and Indians were humiliated and surprised. -
Indian Independence Act
This Act separated India and created Pakistan, and marked the end of the British colonial control over one of the worlds most populated countries. -
Gandhi is Assasinated
Gandhi is assasinated in public and many people gather because of his death and the govenor of India is replaced.
