Operation Cyclone is a code name for the United States C.I.A. It was to arm and finance warriors in Afghanistan. This was used because they were fighting the Soviet Union. It was one of the longest and most expensive operation ever. The C.I.A was funding the Jihadi warriors about $630 million a year. -

This war was against the Soviet Union and Afghanistan. This war was considered a part of the Cold war. Many civilians were killed (562,000-2,000,000 civilians were killed). The civilians of Afghanistan fled to Pakistan and Iran. -

The Afghan Mujahideen is an alliance that was formed with seven other groups. This was to fight against the Soviets. These groups consisted of Khalis facton, Hezbi Islami, Jamiat-i- Islami, Shura-e Nazar, Islamic Union for the Liberation of Afghanistan, National Islamic Front for Afghanistan, Afghanistan National Liberation Front
Islamic, and National Revolution Movement of Afghanistan. -
Al-Qaeda is formed
The group Al-Qaeda had many leaders. The most well known leader is Osama Bin Laden. Al-Qaeda is a group of Islamic extremist. They have performed many attacks on other countries, the United States is one of them. This also includes the September 11 attacks. -
Taliban allows Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan
The Taliban and Al-Quaeda became alliances in 1988. The Taliban allowed Al-Qaeda to train in Afghanistan. This resulted in terrorist attacks. (9/11) -
First Al-Qaeda attack in Somalia
A bomb went off in a Yemen hotel. Troops were staying there before arriving to Somalia. Thankfully, the troops had already left before the bomb went off. -
World Trade Center Bombing
The World Trade Center was first bombed in 1993. It was expected to kill thousands of people. It only killed six people and injured over a thousand. This event was planned by a terrorist group. -
United States Embassy Bombings
The United States Embassy was bombed by a car bomb. 224 people were killed in this tragedy. People from the terrorist group Al-Qaeda performed the bombing. -

Osama Bin Laden was the founder and in charge of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. He was killed by the Navy Seals while Barack Obama was in office. Osama was behind many terrorist attacks in the United States.
