Tsar Nichols ll was in power in 1894. H was unpopular with the people and this lead to the Russian Revolution in 1905. When an imperial guard opened fire on a group of protesters, killing hundreds. It sparked the flames of the radical revolution. -
Lenin: An Emerging leader
The new fight for a revolution lead to Lenin rising as a leader of the radical party called the Bolsheviks. He believed he could use world war 1 as an opportunity to make the war into a war that would end capitalism. As the war progressed so did the revolution. And this caused Tsar Nicholas ll to be overthrown . Which lead to the government being seperated into many divided groups. -
Removal of Russia From World War l
Russia was then removed from world war l, after Lenins radical party, the Bolsheviks took over the government. And formed in into a communist government. -
Death of Lenin
After the death of Lenin, Stalin worked his way to taking power of the party. He then became the dictator of the Soviet Union. -
An Arms Race
After the death of Stalin in 1953. The Soviet leaders got rid of all his brutal policies and started to focus on the cold war. Which lead to a race against power with the united states. It began to become very costly and eventually destructive. -
Mikhail Gorbachev Takes Power
When Gorbachev took power he made two new reforms that he hoped would help to make the Soviet Union more prosperous, productive and restored. When these failed to work the people began to get frustrated with the new government. -
Independent States
As the people grew more upset about the economy and Gorbachev began to reduce their military presence. The soviets republics soon became frustrated also, and they slowly began to break away from the Soviet Union and becoming independent states leaving only one republic left. The eventually lead to the down fall of the soviets.
