Translation of Bible
John Wycliffe translated the Bible into English with the help of John Purvey. Wycliffe made the Popes mad becausethe Popes didn't like that Wycliffe had translated the Bible to English, they laso didn't like his teachings. Later Wycliffe had preached powerfull sermons and John Hys initiated a reform movement based on his ideas. A monk named Martin Luther was influenced by these sermons. John Wycliffe translated the Bible from Latin Vulgate (language) which was the only source he had. -

In 1517 Martin approached the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany and starts nailin his 95 theses that go against the Catholic Church. The 95 theses were quicly snapped out of the door. This began the Protestant Reformation. Martin Luther went against the Catholic Church, one reason is because he did not believe that one had to pay to be forgiven for their sins. This Protestant Reformation remaind for 3 centuries. -

Holy Roman Emperor Charles V defeated the protestant princes. Charles V was a German Emperor who tried to maintain authority as a loyal Catholic ruler while in the depths of the reformation. He defeated the forces of his revellious Protestant princes who were attempting to follow the works of Martin Luther. -

The Peace of Augsburg was when peaces was starting to settle in on the two religions. The prince of somewhere could decide whether his land will be either Lutheranism or Catholism. If someone disagreed about the choice the prince made, then he/she was able to leave the lands and go somewhere else where their religion was respected. Someone was able to practice any religion in a non ruled city. -

St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre
A jesuit priest back in France urged the King of France to massacre protestants. Beginning in Pris, the French soliders and catholic clregy began attacking the helpless protestants, including women and children. Over 100,100 protestants were killed, causing the river of France to be blood-red.
