Progressive Party formed
In 1912, Roosevelt was unhappy with Taft's time in office and put his name forward to become the Republican Party's nominee again. The Party chose to stick with Taft. This angered Roosevelt who walked out of the convention and then formed his own party, The Progressive party lasted for only four years.

Woodrow Wilson
With the republican vote split between Taft and progressive candidate Roosevelt, the Democratic candidate Woodrow Wilson is elected president. The 16th amendment
This was important to the progressive party because Theodore Roosevelt supported the amendment and later went on to form the progressive party. The 17th amendment was ratified in 1913 during the Progressive era of Woodrow Wilson. Why the Progressive Party ended
The progressive party lost at national level in 1912, it continued putting candidates on the ballot at the state and local elctions, These candidated did poorly in 1914. The party did hold a convention in 1916 and nominated Roosevelt to run again, but he did not take the position. The party then nomated Charles E. Hughes which caused the party to be entirely dissolved.

The 19th amendment
The 19th amendment was a success for the Progressive Party because the pary had pushed to help women's suffrage.
