    President William McKinley was assassinated on September 6, 1901. Theodore Roosevelt was elected into office on September 14, 1901 8 days after McKinley was assassinated. He was inaugurated at the age of 42 becoming the youngest president ever at that time. On that date he officially became the 26th president of the United States of America.

    Anthracite coal miners go on strike in pennsylvania because of the working conditions in the mines. The Strike lasted for several months until they reached an agreement on 9 hour days and a 10% wage increase. the miners are forbidden to go on strike for 3 years.
