Upgrades to the Phonograph, the Gramophone.
The upgrade was made by Emil Berliner. Instead of the foil disk, the device use a vinyl disk, a circular disk with engravings of recorded sounds. This is one of the 130 years old recording of the gramophone.

The Turntables
The next device comes in line is the turntable. The device was invented by Daniel Leland Cooley. Its mechanics are still the same like the gramophone. Its popularity skyrocketed in the 1970’s. People often call these devices Disk Jockeys, often used in parties. This is the early sign of “DJ”. -
The Portable Cassette Player
Going into the future 38 years later, the use of cassettes become relevant. Philips, the same inventor of the cassette, invented a portable cassette player. The cassette player mechanics are different to the original phonograph. The player takes the electromagnetic signals from the cassette and converting them into amplified audio sound. -
The iPods
Introducing, the iPods. This device was invented on October 23rd, 2001. This relatively small device allows you to listen to music with modern technologies. You can download music online, or use an application called iTunes to buy music. This device is portable and allows you to listen to music anywhere. -
The Smartphones
Welcome to the present day, where recorded sounds can be almost anywhere. From your computer to the mall. Advanced modern technologies allowed us to download sounds or even videos with just 2-3 clicks. Smartphones, computers, televisions, and even your watch can play recorded music or videos.
