The Cnal Site Voted on Panam
Jun 19, The US Senate voted in favor of Panama as the canal site. US support for a $40 million purchase was based on Congressional acceptance for a canal in Panama rather than Nicaragua, and the acquisition of land to serve as a canal zone. the site was very long and it was very big and took alot of man hours and it took alot of money. This canal took 10 years to build. -

William Crawford Gorgas a US Surgeon served as the chief sanitary officer of the Panama Canal. His plan was to get ride of all the swanps spy with oil lock sick people in net coverd rooms away from other people. -
The Struggles
There were many struggles while building the panama canal some includ, yellow feaver, strikes/fighting, heat, very loud, HIGH-->Low-->HIGH altitude, people getting hurt from heavy machinery. many people could not bring the wife or children so people could not see there family and if your husband died or family then you really wouldn't know soon it would probably be a while. -

THe Canal is Done and Running
Aug 15, The Panama Canal opened to traffic. The Panama Canal, was completed. 5,000 workers, just 350 of them white, perished in the American effort. In 1977 David McCullough authored "The Path Between the Seas," a definitive account of the building of the Panama Canal. In 2009 Julie Greene authored “The Canal Builders:
Making America’s Empire at the Panama Canal.”
The cannal is fone therefore prople can begin to move through it and get from the pacific to the atlantic and so on. -
