Florence Cathedral's dome, by Brunelleschi
This Cathedral is a Catholic church located in Florence,Italy.It has stained windows and also has a wide collection of paintings and sculptures.The dome consists of two layers: an inner layer and an exterior layer,which are supported by 24 arches.Stone rings were tied with metal cramps between the arches to resist the outward thrust.The dome's structure was built without a formwork,the rings and arches being supported by a system of measuring wires fixed at the centres of curvature. -
