Rocket Summer
The sene starts off as an ordinary Ohio winter with snow and frost on all of the houses. A rocket is launched and all of the snow and ice melts and a wave of warmth air goes across the land. People watch the rocket taking off into the sky with orange flames going up with it. -
Ylla
On the planet of Mars we meet the martians. In one of the mars houses, a woman named Ylla awakes from a dream where a large rocket comes form the sky and lands on mars. The rocket was carrying a light skinned dark haired and blue eyed boy. the Martians have golden skin and they have yellow eyes -
The Summer Night
On this day the martians start to sing earth tunes without knowing it. People started to get up on a stage and start to sing these earth tunes. More and more people mainly women who are efected by this, start to awake from dreams that they had about people coming to the planet. -
The Earth Men
The Earth men land on the planet mars led by the Captain Williams. The Earthlings start to go form house to house knocking on the door and greeting the people of Mars and telling them that they are form Earth. They are all ignored. Until someone puts them into an insane assylum because they apparently think that they are from Earth. The Martian shoots William the capitan of the crew and the thiks thata he has gone insane and shoots the rest of the crew. -
The taxpayer
A tax payer comes to the lauinch pasd of one of the rockets saaying that he needs to get on because he is a taxpayer. They arrest the man. The ships lands in mars in the month of April and the new crew seemes to have found a small American town. -
The Third Expedition
When the new Mars crew is looking and exploring Mars, they start to find lost mebers of thier family. The find a human brass bands nad singers. The capitan finds himself in his parents house with his brother who is a Martian. The capitan thinks its a trap so when they all go to sleep ghe tries to run but is stoppedf by his brother. he then is killed. they go to sleep the capitan tries to run but his brother stoppes him and he gets kiled. All of the crew is dead by the next morning. -
And the Moon still be as Bright
The fourht expedition to Mars is successufule becasue most of the Martians have died form chicken pocks which they think was from one of the past expeditioners. they all have a good time but one of the crew members doest want to runin Mars and triees to kill the crew so that humans do not inhabit mars. Then the capitan has to shoot the crew members so that they dont die. -
The Settlers
Settlers start to come to mars becasue they are promised some work. however a ot of people are having trouble becasue they get really lonly . One of these people stop breathing and the mmakes it his gole to start planting oxygen producing trees. -
The Green Morning
One of the settlers that was having trouble breathing was given the task to plant seed for some plants. He plants them with his motercycle in the ground and after a two hour rain the next morning, the sprouts bud out and there is green all over the dusty Mars surface. -
The Locusts
rockets bare coming form the skt onto mars like flies now. All the humans start to build towns and homes and places to work. And a man named gomez starts heading to a patry where there will be games ladies and drinks. -
Night Meeting
The praying mantis that Gomez meets in the coffe place starts to talk with him and they find out that they cannot touch eachother like they are gohsts. The mantis goes to his festivial that he said he neeed to go to and they both part ways. -
The Shore
In the biging the author is discribing Mars as a distant shore that human kind is going for. The men that are arriving on the planet are arriving in waves and coming on the surface. the first wave of men were the ones that were used to being alone. The were the ones that helped build things and were the most aged. it was all American on the planet Mars. peope kept coming to Mars. -
Interim
The people are bring wood from the different states to start buildig the news cities that are popping up. Some California wood, Oragon pine and many other matierials. The churches had staigned glass and were filled with people that were singing hymns. Ray Bradbury discribes the setling on Mars as just taking the Earth towns and trowing them up in a twister and them gently landing on Mars just like the original towns and citiers. -
The Musicians
In this chapter we see some young kids that rae coming hoime from the store with grocerys in there hand. They come across an old martian village where they find many dead martians laying on the ground. They are not freshly dead so all that remained were the bones of the creatures. The kids pick them up and turn them into instuments and start to play songs with the bones of the Martians. -
Way in the Middle of the Air
In this chapter all of the black people have left Earth and started heading for Mars. All of the white people are angry about this and say that cant just leave. They all left in home built rockets that they built with the money that they saved up. There is one man on the porch of all of the people that ows one of the people 50 bucks and the man tries to make him pay. He doesnt but everyone pitches in to help. -
The naming of Names 2004-2005
Some of the new settlers of Mars have started naming things after the first travellers tht came to Mars. All they really are doing in naming stuff. They named historical places like where the first Martian was kiled and places and things liker the hills and the air. And when everything was done being named all of the people came to those different places to visit and to shop. -
Usher 2
A man named Stenahul in the book recreated the mansion from Edgar Allen Poes story, The Fall of the House of Usher. The place is creepy and gloomy just like Poes story made it exept for the fact that there are mechanical animals that are in the house. Stendahul is mad at the government because they fantasy tale illegal. There are many mentions of Poes stories mingled in with this chapter. Stendahul eventually kills all of the people that enter the house finishing off with a man named Garrett. -
The Old Ones
Old peple start to come to Mars. The are said to be following thetril left by the first men that came to Mars. Very discriptev words are ussed to describe the older people that are coming to Mars. The dried aprcot people and the people who focus on their pulse and weather they are well. And the people that drinck cough syrup finally came to Mars. -
The Martian
A man running a hot dog stand is confronted with a Martian. This firghtens the man and he shoots the Martian. His wife then points and they see MArtian space ships coming over the sands. The Martians then destroy the Eath and all of the people watch it burn. -
The Luggage Store
People on Mars are talkiong about the war that is about to happen on Earth. They talk about the fact that Earth is just a small green light that is off in the distance. They talk about hiw they will hear the bomb that are gonna go off. They say that there might be a run on luggage at the store because of all of the people that are leaving the earth. Some of the people on Mars are a little fearful and other cant be bothered. -
The Off Season
This guy named Sam Parkhil makes a hotdog stand and is very proud of it. He shows his wife Elma and she is not very impressed. A martian aproches him and he then shoots the martian. Sams wife sees many martian sand ships coming over the dried seatoward them. Sam steal the sand ship and goes away. -
The Watchers
All of the familys that are on Mars are on there porches and looking at Earth. All of the people down on Earth were prepairng for the massive war that was going to take place. The Earth explolded and cought fire while all of the people were watching the war. All of the people watched for a long time. Some people started walking down the street and the luggage store ran out of luggage. -
Silent Towns
In this chapter there is a man that is on Mars. His name is Walter Gripp. He was walking in the town and iking a canin front of him, while also sprinkling dimes on the ground. He hears a phone ring and then tries to pick it up but ,iksses the call. He calls the number back and finds out that it is a woman. He goes to see the woman. The woman wants to marry him but he doesnt want that, so he goes back home sad. -
The Long Years
The man named hathaway is living on Mars with his family, and after dinner he goes outside and looks at some grave stones and tells tham that he is sorry. A rocket then starts to come closer to Mars. Hathaway lights a city on fire so that the rocket will not miss him. it was capitan Wilder who had come back to bring survivors back to Earth. Hathaway finds out that his family has been dead for a long time and that his family is robots. He then dies. wilder says goodbye to the robots and left. -
There Will Come Soft Rains
A house in California is automated and tries to wake up the family that lived in the house. There is nobody in the house though. The house makes breakfast and waters the lawn as well. The city is chared and black with imprits and silouets of people are on the side of building and the walls. The house tells the former woman that lived in the house her favorite poen called There Will Come Soft Rains. The poem tells how people are wiped out because of war. -
The Million Year Picnic
A family arives on Mars to try and start a new life on Mars. They have a lot of food and after they unload the rocket self destructs. The dad burns all thing that he has from Earth and he letrs the boys pick a city to live in. The dad shows the msome Martians. There are siad to be a few familys that will come to Mars.
