Ylla
Ylla starts having "dreams" that someone named Nathaniel York will be coming in a rocket will be coming to Mars to take her away back to Earth. Her husband Yll is outraged after hearing this and kills York when he lands on Mars. -
The Summer Night
The Martians start saying strange words and phrases that they have never heard before or know what they mean. They start to panic. -
The Earth Men
The second expedition arrives on Mars. But when the crew tries to talk to the Martians they don't seem to care that they came from a different planet. A Martian named Xxx thinks they are projections and shoots them, and then shoots himself. -
The Taxpayer
A man thinks that he has a right to go on a trip to Mars since he pays taxes. -
The Third Expedition
A third expedition lands on Mars, but when they land they notice that it looks a lot like Ohio. When exploring they stumble upon what looks like their dead relatives and friends. The crew spend tme with them and are killed at night time. -
And The Moon Be Still As Bright
A fourth expedition lands on Mars led by Captain Wilder. All of the Martians seem to have been killed off by chicken pox. Spender believes that we should respect Mars and not tamper with its environment. He kills five members of the crew until he lets Captain Wilder shoot him. -

More people come on expeditions to settle on Mars. -
The Green Morning
Benjamin Driscoll wants to stay on Mars but his body can't handle the low amounts of oxygen. He wants to be of use so he goes artound planting trees that grow quickly and start producing more oxygen. -
The Locusts
like locusts, more and more rockets begin to swarm to Mars. -
Night Meeting
Tomas Gomez meets a Martian who sees the world completely different than he does. After talking they conclude that they are from two different times but they don't know which is the past and which is the future. -
The Shore
This talks about about the different types of people coming to Mars and how comparing the Mars expeditions to a shore's waves. Even if they are still waves they never appear in the same form as the ones before. -
The Fire Balloons
Father Peregrine and Father Stone go to Mars to learn about the Martian's religion and convert them to Christianity. When they learn that the Martians have souls they create a religion around them. But when they start doing this the Old Ones appear in front of them and say that they have freed their souls from their bodies and no longer have any need for a religion. -

It talks about the many different settlements that are being built on Mars. -
The Musicians
This talks about the Firemen that go into the Martian cities and burn their bodies so that they can be disposed of. The kids don't have respect for the dead bodies and kick them, because they probably don't know any better. -
The Wilderness
This is about someone trying to figure out if they really want to abandon everything they have on Earth to go live on Mars. -

This chronicle talks about how they named all of the different areas. -
Usher II
William Stendahl builds the House of Usher from Edgar Allen Poe's " The Fall of the House of Usher". When the Moral Climate people show up to have the house torn down he secretly murders them all and replaces them all with robots. -
The Old Ones
This talks about how the older people are finally coming to Mars. -
The Martian
LaFarge and his wife see their dead son outside of their house one day. He quickly sees through the Martian's disguise but wants to spend more time with his son. The Martian also goes to other familoes who have lost loved ones, but ends up getting shot over people fighting over who he belongs to. -
The Luggage Store
The proprietor and Father Peregrine talk about how when the nuclear war finally starts on Earth that everyone will want to back to Earth. -
The Off Season
Sam Parkhill opens up a hot dog stand. When a Martian comes to talk to him about the land he shoots the Martian out of fear. He flees from more of the Martians until they are eventually able to explain they are giving the deed to half of Mars. He is filled with joy by this but, when he looks up he sees Earth engulfed in flames. -
The Watchers
People begin to pack their luggage to prepare for their trip back to Earth. -
The Silent Times
Walter Gripp thinks that he is the last person on Mars when he meets a woman over the phone. He travels to meet her only to find that he could not stand he and goes back to live by himself. -
The Long Years
Hathaway is stranded on Mars for 20 years with his family when Captain Wilder finally returns from his trip to other planets. Wilder and his crew find it strange that Hathaway is the only one in his family that has seemed to aged. After investigating he finds out that his family died 19 years ago. Hathaway dies of a heart condition and his wife explains to Wilder that he created them so that he would not be all by himself on Mars. -
There Will Come Soft Rains
Talks about how nature will continue to move forward even without humans existing. It shows this with a house that functions on its own. -
The Milion-Year Picnic
William Thomas and his family andgoing to Mars. They are trying to get away from the violence and the death. They were the last rocket and Earth wouldn't be capable of interplanetary travel for centuries. The kids want to see Martians on Mars so their Dad shows them their reflection in the water.
