College Education
Golding attended Brasenose College at Oxford. He studied science for two years based on his father's beliefs and then transferred to the literature program for his interests. -
First Work
While he was attending college, he published his first book of poetry called Poems. -
Teaching
Golding graduated Oxford with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a diploma in education. He started teaching English and Philosophy at the Bishop Wordsworth's School in Sailsbury. -
Marriage
Golding married Ann Brookfield and continued his writing at their house at Falmouth, Cornwall. -
War
After their marriage, one of Golding's children, David was born. He eventually left teaching to join the Royal Navy for five years to fight in World War ll. -
