First virtual tour
MIT developed the Aspen movie app which allowed people to take a virtual tour of Aspen, Colorado. -
VPL Research is founded
one of the first companies to develop and sell VR products. Product sold were the Data Glove, Eye Phone, and Data Suit. All allowed the people to manipulate and re-orient objects virtually. -
Arcade Machine
The first arcade machine to use VR was created and called Virtuality. -
First Motion Simulator
Sega introduces the VR-1 motion simulator at it SegaWorld arcade. -
Virtual Boy is created
Virtual boy was marketed as the first console to use stereoscopic 3D graphics. 22 games were made for the game and was the first 32-bit system made. -
Google introduces Street View
Street view gave people a panoramic view of locations through the world all from the computer in their home. -

Was a mount made from cardboard the allowed you to turn your phone into a VR device. -

Oculus Rift come out
Oculus Rift allows people to see in Virtual Reality using a keyboard to move and interact with environment. Had higher solution than the prototype. It ran at 960x1080 per eye. -
Playstation releases PSVR
Allowed for people on console to enjoy and use VR without needing a PC. -
Oculus Go is released
Allowed people to use VR without the need for a PC for the first time since Virtual Reality came out back in the 60's. Allowed people to watch both traditional and immersive video along with their streaming services.
