Isaac Newton is Born!
Isaac Newton was born on January 4, 1643. His father was a farmer, but unfortuantely died a mere 3 months before Isaac was born. When Isaac was 3, his mother remarried, although Isaac did not like his stepfather. -
Early Schooling
Isaac Newton went to school when he was 12 at The King's School in Grantham. Although his mother wanted him to become a farmer, he loved science and inventing things, such as a mouse-powered wheat mill, and so stayed at school until he was 18. -
Cambridge
At the age of 18, Isaac Newton was accepted into Trinity College at Cambridge, where he began to study mathematics in earnest. -
Plague!
In the late summer of 1665, the Bubonic Plague hit England, and Cambridge closed its doors during this time. Newton used this time to investigate the world around him, including looking at gravity and optics. His largest accomplishment during this time, however, was to develop calculus. -
Professor Isaac Newton
Isaac Barrow resigned from his Lucasian Professorship. Under his recommendation, Isaac Newton was appointed next. -
SIR Isaac Newton
Queen Anne knighed Isaac Newton at Trinity College. He was only the second scientist to ever be given that honour. -
R.I.P.
After a lifetime of accomplishments and scientific discovery, Sir Isaac Newton passed away in his sleep at the age of 84. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.
