    In 1901 Theodore Roosevelt becomes the 26th president of the US. He served for 8 years and was the youngest president to be in office.He was also awarded a noble peace prize and received a medal of honor. He strengthened the US army, and actively fought to better the country. Unfortunately, he later died in 1919 due to pulmonary embolism, a disease that clots the blood.

    Gandhi returns to India
    In 1915 after staying in South Africa for quite some time, Gandhi returned to India. His return to his home country created the history of India as we know it. During his time in India he organized numerous protests, and influenced a peaceful way of living. He initiated the salt march which later occurred in 1930, he also initiated a nationwide hartal (strike) in 1919. This is a key event in the history of Gandhi, without it none of these other events could have happened.

    On March 8th, 1917 a war broke out in Russia that led to a long period in history, where communism started. Communism is a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs. This theory created a very long period of time were not only Russia but other countries adopted these values.

    Gandhi initiates a nationwide strike
    In the April of 1919, just 4 years after returning to India Gandhi initiates a nationwide strike. During this strike in order to protest the Rowlatt act, Gandhi and other Indians began to boycott businesses and fast. This act gave the government more power to act and decide on revolutionary activities. This resulted in the people having less rights, so therefore they started a strike. Although Gandhi ended up suspending the resistance, it still majorly effected the power of the people.

    In 1930, 8 years after Gandhi's arrest he organized the salt march. To protest the British rule in India thousands of people acted and participated in the salt march. This resulted in 60,000 peoples arrest including Gandhi.     On March 5, 1931, the Delhi pact was signed by Gandhi and Irwin to make an agreement. Due to the violence that had recently been going on between the two parties, The two parties had decided to put an end to it and come to an agreement. Irwin agreed to release all political prisoners, and Gandhi decided to suspend all civil disobedience.

    Adolf Hitler becomes the chancellor of Germany
    On January 30th, 1932, Adolf Hitler became the chancellor of Germany, sparking one of the most terrifying events in history. Him becoming chancellor led to the Holocaust, where specifically jews but also many other religions, genders, and people were brutally murdered. He created concentration camps to keep his "victims" in, and most often he would kill them in gas chambers. This event is significant because without him becoming the chancellor the holocaust probably would not have happened.

This war had tragic affects all around the world. In the end, the outcome was an allied victory, not a single victory. Today the memories of the war still haunt many and still affects us.

    Mohandas Gandhi was assassinated January 30th in 1948. He was 78 when he dies and had become weak from the multiple hunger strikes that he went through. On his way to a prayer meeting an angry Hindu extremest named Nathuram Godse shot Gandhi with a pistol 3 times, due to his anger about Gandhi's tolerance toward Muslims. He is today known as a great leader and example for his non violent lifestyle and simplistic way of living, and has made a great impact in the history of the world.
