Mahatma Gandhi was born October 2, 1869. He was born in Porbandar, near Bombay.

He went to University College in London. He went to University College to study law. When he had his alone time he studied philosophy.

Gandhi returned to India in 1891 and was unsuccessful in Bombay.

Gandhi wasn’t successful in Bombay so he went to South Africa in 1893.

Gandhi found the Natal Indian congress to agitate for Indian rights in 1894. At the same time he was still kind to the British Empire.

Gandhi raised an ambulance corps and he then served the South African government in 1899.

In 1906 Gandhi gave aid against the Zulu revolt. Also in 1906 he began his peaceful revolution. He then announced that he would go to jail or die before following an anti-Asian law. Thousands of people were with him and Gandhi got jailed twice. In World War I he organized another ambulance corp for the British.

In 1914 Gandhi returned back home to India. After Gandhi did all of there he started to have many Indian followers. They could follow him almost blindly in his campaign for Sarajevo, or “home rule.” He worked for all classes and religious sects, especially Hindus and Muslims.

In 1919 Gandhi became a leader in the newly formed Indian National Congress political party.

In 1920 Gandhi launched an rebellion against the British, encouraging Indians to spin their own cotton and to boycott British goods, courts, and government.

In 1930 he was jailed AGIAN in protest of a salt tax, he led thousands of Indians on a 200-mile march to the sea to collect their own salt.

In 1934 he retired from the political party but he still remained its actual leader. Soon enough he became convinced that India would receive no real freedom as long as it remained in the control of the British Empire. Very early into the World War II he demanded instant independence as India’s price for aiding Britain in the war.

He was sent to jail again in 1942!

In 1942 to1944 Gandhi was sent to jail for the third time!!!

In 1947 Gandhi won India Independence!! The landmass split into two countries (India and Pakistan) and brought Hindu-Muslim riots. Once agian Gandhi was nonviolent, fasting until Delhi rioters pledged peace to him.
