Inauguration Into Office
Harvey Milk walked to the city hall with his supporters, he officially became Supervisor Harvey Milk. -
Passing of Gay Rights Bill and Pooper Scooper Law
Harvey Milk's first tenure was bringing the gay rights issue into attention. During voting, only Supervisor Dan White voted against the bill that outlawed discrimination of sexual orientation. Moscone enthusiastically signed the bill into law. Harvey also solved the dog feces problem by passing a bill that requires dog owners to scoop up their dogs' feces. -
1978 Gay Pride Parade
The 1978 was one of the largest gay parade in history because of Harvey Milk's success at becoming San Francisco's city supervisor. Harvey Milk also gave one of him famous Hope Speech at the event and rode the way on a car with a sign "I'm from Woodmere, NY". -
The death of Mayor Moscone and Supervisor Milk
On November 27, 1978, Former Supervisor Dan Wihte escaped metal detectors by breaking into the city hall's basement window. He shot Mayor Moscone because he won't let White restore supervisor position. Later, he shot Milk because he said Milk "smirked" at him. -
Dan White's trial result spurs the White Night Riot
On May 21, 1979, Dan White was convicted of manslaughter instead of murder and was sentenced to 7 years in prison (although serving only little more than 4 years). People who were discontent with the result rioted in front of city hall. -
"Milk" premiere
The move "MIlk" based on the life of the first openly gay to be elected Harvey Milk premiered. Harvey Milk was played by Sean Penn. -
Harvey Milk Foundation Foundation
The Harvey Milk Foundation is found by Stuart Milk, the nephew of Harvey Milk, in 2009. The Foundation is dedicated to advocate LGBTQ rights.
