    The German Democratic Republic decided to build the barrier in order to divide Berlin into East and West Berlin along with divideing Germany in general into East and West. The wall seperated the communist East side from spreading to the West side, post WWII.

    The Soviets begin to build bases for intermediate-range ballistic missiles. Soon enough, all were removed by the US as part of a secret agreement with the Soviet Union during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

    The Navy intelligence vessel was survallencing the North Korean coast and it was intercepted by North Korean patrol boats. North Korea opened fire and with the crew on board knowing capture was inevitable, they stalled time and destroyed all classified information.
