Osman I was th founder of the Ottoman Empire. He was born in 1258 in the town of Sogut of nobal parantage. He dreamed of untiting the surrpunding muslims to overthrow the weakening Byzantine Empire. -

Mehmed the Conquerer </a>Mehmed the second or Mehmed the Conqueror was sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1444 to 1446 and then again from 1451 to 1481. He was the sultan responcinble for the conquest of Constantinople. -

The capture of Constantinople
On May 29th 1953 the Ottomans ended the seige of Consatantinople with the conquering of the city. The city was renamned Istanbul and would soon become the capital of the empire and one of the most known cities in the world. -

Zahir-ud-din Muhammad Babur was a decendent of both Temerlane and Chinggis Khan. He was a Central Asian conqueror from regions around modern day Afghanistan. He is responcible for the displacien of the Dehli Sultanates and founding the Mughal Empire. -

Ismail I was the founder of the Savafid Empiren in modern day Iran. He was born into a sufi order. He lost both of his parents at a young age which gave him motivation and drive for revenge and to ruling. -

Suleiman the Magnificent was the longest ruling sultans of the Ottoman Empire. He regined form 1520 to 1566. He had campaigns of expansion in Europe and North Africa and fought the Savafid Empire. -

De Gama Reaches India
On May 20, 1498 the Portugese Navagator reached the port of Calicut in modern day India. His landing predates the founding of the Mughal Empire but it is significant becasue it sets up the trade relationship between Western Europe and India which will make the future emperors rich with goods brought from the new world to India in exchange for things like spices. -

In 1508 Ismail I the leader of the Savafid empire conquered thc city of baghdad in modern Iraq. This was a great victory in for the expansion of that country by capturing a significant Muslim city. -

Ottoam Savafid Clashes
In 1514 the Sultan Selim I marched invaded Anitolia which triggered wars between these to Islamic Empires. Althoguh the Ottomans captured the Savafid capitial the Savafid EMpire held on and managed to push the Ottomans back under the leadership of Shāh Tahmāsp I. This had a bad effect on Ismail I leaving him a broken man. -

Tahmasp I was the son of Ismail I. He came to power during the was between the Savafid and Otttoman Empires. He managed to save the Savafid Empire form destruction despite loseing its capitial. He reigned form 1524 to 1576. -

On his fifth attempt in 1526 Zahir ud-din Muhammad Babur succeded in displaceing the last Delhi sultan and established to Nughal Empire on the Indian sub-continent. -

The Siege of Vienna marked the height of Ottoman Expansion into Europe. It was under the reign of Suliman the Magnificent. It was a failure and was responcible for setting up a rivalry between the Ottomans and Europeans that would last for centuaries. -

Akbar was the thrid ruler of the Mughal empire in India. Hr reigned from 1556 to 1605. He was a tolereant ruler who was respectful of all faiths and did not push Islam on his mostly Hindu subjects. He also expanded the emprie dramacticall during his reign so as to amek it one of the greatest in the world. -

Birth of Shah Abbas I
Shah Abbas I is considered to be the greatest ruler of the Savafid Empire. He ruled from 1587 to 1629. When he took the throne there was a troubled time in Iran.There were many different factions vying for control. He fixed the situation and took back land from the Mughals, the Ottoams, and the Portugese. -
Birth of Shah Jahan
Shah Jahan was the fifith ruler of the Mughal empire. He ruler form 1628 to 1658. He was a good military leader and a patron of the arts he ordered the construction of the Taj Mahal that in honor of his favorate wife who died from child birth. He administered the Golden age of Mughal architecture, and spent millions of dollars completeing world famous structures. -
British East India Company Chartered
In 1600 Queen Elizabeth of England chartered the British East Inida Company in 1600. This was a joint stock company designed to fund voyages to places like Mughal India. They would set up trade routes and play a prominent role in Inida for centuaries of Mughal rule until the British itself would control the sub-continent. -

Capture of Ormuz (1622 In 1622 The Savafid Empire with British support captured the territory of Hormuz from the Portugese. The Protugese had held the territory since 1507 and this was a major victory for the Savafid Empire to fight back against Portugese influence. -

She died in child birth which devestated Shah Jahan. This is the most widely know structure in India. It is made of marble and was extremly expencive to build. It took decades for its completion, but is considered the jewel of Muslim art in India. -
End of Empire
The Savafid Emprie did not dissappear right away. It deteriorated over decades of outside invasion and poor leadership. The Shahs no longer carried to governe and let the empire be destroyed form forces on all sides. With the end in 1736 when a man named Nadir displaced the Shah. -
End of Empire
The Mughal empire had been in decline for decades. When they began to lose tolereance for the Hindus kingdoms like the Maratha began to oppose them. European colonization began to tkae its tole as they imcreaseingly gained influence there. By 1857 they Mughal emperors only had authority over the area in and around delhi and were incorportated into the British Raj after supporting the Indian rebellion of 1857. -
The Ottoman Empire Enters World War I
After closeing the vital sea lanes that the Russians used to communicate with the Western allies and Ottoman vessels Shelled a Russian port because oif German officers Britian and France declared war on the Ottomans on November 5th and the Ottomans responded on the 14th with their own declaration. This brought about the end of the Ottoman Empire because they were faced with territorial reparations for loseing the war and much unrest at home. leading to dissalosionment in 1923 -
The End of Empire
After the First World War the Ottoman Empire was in a state of collapse. The occupations of Constantiople and other major cities led to the Turkish Nattional movement and the Turkish War of Independence. This lead to the sultan being abolished on November 1, 1922, the declaration of the Republic of Turkey on October 29, 1923, and the abolishing of the caliphate on March 3, 1924
