  • The Typewriter

    The Typewriter
    The type writer was invented by Henry Mill in England. This was a machine that could produce printlike characters one at a time on paper. This invention was needed and used to improve the speed of writing instead of writing with a pen or pencil, typing it made it quick and efficient. The typewriter made writing much more legible. This improved society by allowing people to communicate much easier without having to hand write.
  • The Cotton Gin

    The Cotton Gin
    Eli Whitney, an American inventor created the cotton gin in 1793. This made cotton harvesting much easier by enabling one laborer to seperate cotton and its seeds with little effort. This was needed to reduce the time of cotton production which it did, making cotton more readily available.
  • The Telegraph

    The telegraph was made by Samuel Finley in 1825. This machine sends a message across a certain distance in Morse code which becomes a message when decoded. The invention was needed to make communication much easier and faster. It improved society by making communicating more effective and was used greatly during the Civil War.

    The reaper was created by Cyrus McCormick In America (specifically Virginia).This was a machine that harvested a crop.This was needed to lower the working hours of aggrivated laborers who spent their days harvesting crops. This liberated workers hours of from backbreaking work.

    The lightbulb was invented by Thomas Alva Edison in America. This produced light through a bulb-like structure through electricity. This invention was needed just as an advance in technology. This changed society just that way by improving technology and the way people live.
