Step 1
Peanuts eaten for the first time- IgE antibody is formed. -

The IgE attaches itself to mast cells found in the tissues in cells all over the body. The body is primed for that allergen if it enters the body again. -

Step 3
You eat peanuts for the second time. -

The allergen binds to
IgE antibodies and
sends out signals for
the body to release
large amounts of histamine. -

Step 5
Allergic symptoms begin inside the body and present themselves in outward and visible ways. -

Step 6
In the case of a peanut allergy, you may experience itching,tingling or swelling round the mouth and throat. In extreme cases you could experience anaphylaxis and require a lifesaving epinephrine shot.
