Peeta Burns the Bread
Peeta had purposley burnt the bread so he could give it to Katniss because he knew she needed some food. Peeta had sacrificed a beating from his mother to give one loaf of bread to a starving girl that he barely knew. The dandelions and the bread helped Katniss remeber that she can hunt in the woods and provide for her family through hunting. -
Haymitch helps Katniss Train
Despite Haymitch's drinking problems, he set aside time to help Katniss and Peeta train for the games. Without the one-on-one training that Katniss had, she wouldnt have gotten her mind back on track for the games. Although he had his doubts, Haymitch was really trying to get katniss to win the games. -
Cinna Makes Katniss the "Girl Who Was on Fire"
With the help of Cinna and Peeta, Katniss was noticed and remembered as the "Girl Who was on Fire" because Peeta and Katniss's costumes looked like they were on fire. The opening ceremony was a great time to get noticed as a competitor which really helped Katniss because the careers wanted to hunt her down, but they were scared and shocked at the score she got. -
Katniss Gets an 11/12 in the Ratings
Katniss was very frustrated with the Gamekeepers when they were judging her skills, so Katniss shot an arrow at the apple. The Gamekeepers realized how much aim she had and how she could channel her anger into something that will help her. So, the Gamekeepers gave her an 11, which made her have the most points of all the competitors, even the careers. -
Haymitch Gives Advice
Haymitch tells Katniss a lot of things, like what to do fro interviews and what personality she should have for people to like her, but the best advice was given right before the games. Haymitch told Katniss to run right as the gong/bell was rung for the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games to begin, to run into the woods, and keep running. She didnt listen and she was almost killed by a career. -
Katniss Gets Medicine For the Burns
After the forest fire, Katniss had burns everywhere. She was so mentally and physically exhausted she thought she couldnt go on any longer, then finally Haymitch and the sponsors sent her burn medicine which healed the burns. -
Rue Tells Katniss About the Trackerjacks
Rue was also hidding in the trees when Katniss was hidding from the careers. Rue woke Katniss and pointed up to the trackerjack nest for katniss to be aware and move, but Katniss tried to cut down the tree branch that the nest was on to fall on the careers. Katniss, the careers, and Peeta all got stung by the trackerjacks, but only a few of them died. -
Peeta Yells for Katniss to Run
After killing the career, Katniss tries to steal the bow and arrows from her, when Peeta runs through the bushes and yells for Katniss to run. Then, the career came and slashed his leg open so Peeta was very injured and running from the careers now. -
Cesar Flickerman Makes a Change
Cesar Flickerman tells all the competitors in the games still that if they're person from the same district is still alive, then they can both win the games. This helps Petta and Katniss reunite and they work together as a team, healing eachother and caring for eachother, like brother and sister. This also helped play into the fact that Peeta and Katniss are supposed to be "in love." -
Thresh Saves Katniss
Katniss goes to get the bag full of something they need the most, when Thresh tackles Clove off of Katniss when Clove was trying to cut her and make a painfull death for Katniss. Then, after hurting Clove, Thresh got on top of Katniss and asked her about Rue and Katniss said she took care of her, so instead of Thresh killing Katniss, she let her go. He sadi now after this they didnt owe eachother any favors anymore.
