Returning from the hunger Games

Katniss returns home to District 12 after the Hunger Games in a whole new life and environment. Her mother and sister, Prim, enjoy there new modern home in the Victor's Village. However, Katniss still frequently visits her other rundown home in her spare time. Since Gale works in the mines twelve hours straight, Katniss has to take on the responsibility of bringing food to his family.

President Snow makes a visit to Katniss shortly after she returns home. He discusses the way she went about the Hunger Games and tells her if she steps out of line again, there will be consequences. She must remain in love with Peeta and not try to initialize a rebellion, or those she loves will be killed, included Gale and his family.

Out hunting in the woods

One day, Katniss takes a trip out in the woods. She finds people from District 8, who claim to be heading to District 13, a district katniss have been told not exists. Katniss then head home. When she gets to the fence at the edge of the woods she realizes the electricity is on and she is trapped. She finds a tree high enough and jumps over, and ends up hurting her ankle and spine. When she comes home there is two peacekeepers there, the fence will be electrified from now on.

Speech district 11

Katniss and Peeta are on a train traveling to all of the Districts on the Victory Tour. The first stop is District 11. Peeta and Katniss say nice things to the families of Thresh and Rue, when a man in the audience starts to sing Rue's four note melody. Katniss and Peeta are rushed inside right as that man is being shot. He started singing after Katniss thanked Rue's family and Peeta promised food to the district.

Engaged

To try to convince the President Snow that they are madly in love, Katniss and Peeta get engaged on the train before they are arriving the capitol. They hope that this may be the piece they are missing to convince Snow.

Rebellion

On the way home from the capitol where the trip ended Katniss sees live footage, on a screen in the train, from district 8 where there is an rebellion after she was there.

Gale being whipped

Peeta and Katniss meet up in the Victor's Village and decide to walk to the town's square together. When they arrive they see a crowd of people standing around the stocks. When they get a closer look, Katniss realizes it is Gale being whipped and she rushed to his defense. The new peacekeeper Romuius Thread whips Katniss in the face as she stands protectively over Gale's hanging body. Gale was whipped for the hunting of a turkey and was punished for that

Quarter Quell

The day has come for Katniss to try on her wedding dress. She will be filmed and later showed to all of Panem during that nights broadcasting. When they watch the broadcast, they also find out what this years Quarter Quell will be. The victors from previous Hunger Games will have to go back into the arena. When Effie Trinket comes for the Reaping Day, she picks Katniss and Haymitch, but Peeta volunteers for Haymitch.

Training for the games

During the training, Haymitch advises Peeta and Katniss to make friends because they need allies in the arena in order to survive. Katniss chooses some allies and so does Peeta, but they will wait to get to the arena to decide.

Private sessions with the gamemakers

On the final day of training the private sessions occur with the Gamemakers. During Katniss' session, she chose to hang a dummy named Seneca Crane, the previous Gamemaker. Peeta paints a picture of Rue after Katniss covered her with flowers when she passed away in the forest. For the first time in history, Katniss and Peeta, tributes of District 12, get a perfect score of 12.

Interviews with Ceaser

Finally, it was Katniss' turn. She joins Ceaser on stage, and twirls her wedding dress, engulfing flames. As she stops, Katniss is covered with black feathers and wings. Cinna transformed her into a Mockingjay. Katniss wrapped up her interview quickly, soon reflecting on Peeta. Peeta's interview with Flickerman dealt with Katniss and Peeta's marriage and the incoming baby. The audience doesn't know if it's true or not, but they can't bare the cruelty the Capitol is expecting on them.

Cinna getting beaten

The next morning, Cinna arrives to assist Katniss' outfit for the arena. As she prepares to launch and steps into the plate waiting for it to rise, three Peacekeepers barge in. They start beating Cinna, dragging his unconscious body from the room. Katniss rises up and the games start.

The start of the games

Katniss is in the middle of the Cornucopia retrieving a backpack filled with bows and arrows. Katniss, Peeta, Finnick, and Mags all join together on the opposite side of the water. They run away from the Cornucopia into a thick jungle surrounding lakes As the four search for food and water, Peeta walks into a force field and is flung back in to the arena with no heartbeat. Finnick revives him, but Peeta is barely alive

In the arena

While in the arena, Finnick, Mags, Peeta, and Katniss face paralyzing fog. This is when Mags dies and many others in the arena die on the first day. The three remaining allies encounter blood rain, monkey muttations, jabberjays, salt water wave, and even a beast is found in the arena. Many have died, but Katniss and the other two get two new allies; Wiress and Beetee. This is when they realize that the arena is a clock and different things occur at different places at that time of the hour.

The beggining of the end

Shockingly, Katniss is stroked by a metal cylinder of the wire and is lying on her back as if she was dead. Katniss climbs back up the jungle towards the lightning tree, releasing her arrow in the force field causing an explosion. A hovercraft appears above Katniss and takes her away from the arena.

The end

Katniss wakes up and rips the tubes off. Haymitch sits with Katniss and explains there was a plan to break them out of the arena once the Quell's announcement was fulfilled. She gains knowledge that there is a District 13 and that the Capitol has kidnapped Peeta, using him as bait. Katniss unites with Gale and he tells her family is safe and alive. Also after the Games, the Capitol bombed and completely destroyed what used to be district 12.
