The Freedom Rides set of to sydeny with 30 students -
First Stop
The first stop of the freedom rides. this stop was not a protest the stop was to carry out several surveys. these surveys help them affirm that Aboriginals are being treated different. -
Second peaceful stop
there were still no protests but lots of surveys were carried out to look at the living standard and different services around the community. there information showed that the Aboriginals were denied access to rights and facilitys -
Walgett RSL
The Freedom riders reach walgett. Charles perkins was denied access to the RSL. the Freedom Riders paraded in front of the RSL holding lots of signs. the men inside the bar were yelling insults at the riders -
Moree pool Protest
The freedom riders stopped in moree. Charles perkins took a group of aboriginal kids to the local pool but there was a problem they were not allowed in ever since the creation of the pool 40 years earlier and did not leave until they aboriginal kids were allowed to go for a swim. Once the locals found out about this they were furious and the next day 500 residents confronted them and yelled screamed and threw eggs at them. after this incident the police escorted The Freedom Riders away.
