The prototype took a year to make and won the team $850 dollars so that they could make the final model. Two years later they finished product weighed around 700 pounds and it could take one operation every 15 seconds. (Today the average computer can take 150 billion operations every 15 seconds).During the war t -
Harvard Mark I Computer
Harvard Mark I Computer was created by Howard Aiken and Grace Hopper in 1944, was not operational until 1959,. It was 55 feet long and 8 feet high, and weighed over 5 tons. It was used by the USA Navy for calculations concerning ballistics and gunnery. Made from almost 760,000 separate pieces including over 500 miles of wire and, and 1,400 rotary dial switches. (It required 3-5 seconds for a multiplication operation). -
UNIVAC (Universal Automatic Computer)

Since the Census Bureau was only gave them $400,000 dollars, Eckert and Mauchly paid $600,000 to finish the job, but both of them were pushed to the edge of bankruptcy. The two young scientist were helped by Remington Rand Inc. in 1950. Remington Rand was the first American manufacturers of a commercial computer. -
ENIAC I
The ENIAC I (Electrical Numerical Integrator and Calculator) was created in 1946 by John Presper and John Mauchly. Sponsored by the US military, they were able to create a computer that was able to calculate artillery-firing tables to help with accuracy when shooting a certain target. John Mauchly had previously invented a lot of calculating machines and started making the plans for the ENIAC I in 1942 based on the Abc computer. -
The "Floppy" Disk
Alan Shugart was the head of the team that made the Floppydisk.
