The History of the Cell By alueders Jan 2, 1595 The First Microscope is Invented by Zacharias Jensen Jansen invented the first microscope in 1595 (exact date is unknown). This is significant to cell history because without microscopes we would not be able to see cells. Jansen's microscope consisted of tubes with lenses at the end. It was advanced even though it only magnified images to ten times. Without Jansen's design, other cell scientists would not have been able to perfect the microscope.
