    Way back in 1650, the Russians built ice slides that were around 70 feet tall, which people just slid down, with not really much protection. This is where the inspiration for roller coasters came from, therefore known as a predecessor, and in fact, it is the EARLIEST predecessor.

    The switchback railroad, the original rollercoaster that travels at 6 miles per hour in small bumps. It could not be towed back, so people had to manually push the cart all the way back to the start, taking a lot of time. It was a big hit, and people started to build roller coasters all over the country. This was made in Coney Island by Lamarcus Thompson.

    The Kingda Ka is the tallest, and second fastest roller coaster in the world, at 128 mph, with a height of 456 feet. It is made of steel, and deaths are rare on it. It is second in speed only to the Formula Rossa which travels at 149 mph.

    The Falcon's flight and the AXIS
    The farthest that any company is planning so far is for five years or less. In 2023, a new roller coaster named falcons flight is going to top 3 world records. It will beat the Formula Rossa of with a speed of 155 miles per hour. It will defeat Kingda Ka with a height of 655 feet, and it will also beat Steel Dragon 2000 with a length of 2.5 miles. The AXIS is a roller coaster coming out in 2022 with rotating arms that are attached to the seats, giving the rider a thrilling experience.
