Germanic tribes as the Angles and the saxon gave us the term Anglo-saxon. In addition to these tributes. Cristian missioners give us latin words, and the Vikings with their action man words. -

The Norman Conquest.
The Conqueror brought to England new concepts like French language . John Grishams brought words related to English speaking by farmers . All in all the English absorb about 10,000 new words from the Normans. -

Shakespeare or a plaque on both his houses.
William S. invented 2,000 new words and phrases , He also invented the Hobnob. Shakespeare´s poetry showed the world that English was a rich language with limitless, expressive and emotional. -

Britain decided to take a tour around the world asking for land and wealth where they pick up and left from every place they were. To develop new varities of English. -
The King James´s bible.
A new translation of the bible. A team of scribes make King James the translation all things to all men. So that the earthcould understand these little books (bibles) which were read in every church. -

The English of science or how to speak with gravity.
Suddenly Britain got full of physicists like Isaac Newton. They realised they could transform the understanding of the universe by talking in their own language. So their contribution was about vocabulary related to the science and human body. -

American English or not English.
When British landed in America they needed new words to name some things so they borrowed a lot of new words from native Americans, immigrants. And when the Dutch, the Germans, the Italians arrived to America they contribute with their vocabulary which is still carrying on America. -

The age of the dictionary.
A new breed of men called Lexicographers started to write dictionaries. The first one was "Dictionary of the English" (1746-1755), and the second is "The Oxford English dictionary (1857-1928). and it´s continued to be revised ever since. Giving the whole idea you cannot stop people making up new words. -

Internet English or language reverts to type.
When the internet arrived, the people had a space to share information, ideas and some amusing pictures. But the net also brought typing back into fashion and the conversations were getting shorter by using abbreviations. So some changes even passed into spoken English. -
Global English or whose language is it anyway?
English has showed a unique ability to absorb, evolve, invade or even steal new vocabulary. Right now around 1.5 billion people speak English.
