Infant (primary) School
This is important because it developed the first Kindergarten. It started the concept of DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practice) by developing primary grades Kindergarten threw 3rd to help school be more developmentally appropriate for young children. This concept helped children little to old to not all be stuck in the same school house of 40- 60 students all different ages being taught in the same room by the same teacher. -
Separating Church and State
This event made our schools more diverse and open to all people. This is important because America was and is a melting pot of many religions and people. So this allowed people of all religions to attend a public school and take advantage of it benefits. -
Virtual Education
Gave families and students flexibility to participate in school while physically not being there. Also allowed students to participate in more classes then offered by the school. They could take various language classes for example with out actually having a Fluent German teacher present. -
No Child Left Behind
Held states, districts, and public schools accountable for the students academic achievement. This is important because we want to ensure our children are getting quality educations. Is it always the state, district, or public schools fault if the child has low test scores? No. However, this was a good start to a great thing. It just needs better execution! -
Race to the Top
This evaluated teachers and principals progress by getting student achievement data. The scores from students get would get turned in to the government and be assessed. This is important because once again like with the No Child Left Behind Act it is ensuring high quality education to the majority. This was a competitive grant to reward states that are creating the conditions for education innovation and reform.
