  • Rehabilitation Act 504

    Rehabilitation Act 504
    Students that did not qualify for special education services however had a medical or educational could be covered un the Rehabilitation act could recieve services. Students who qualify for a 504 plan can also be considered for assistive technology devices or services.
  • IEP Introduced

    Education act for all Handicapped Children Act- An IEP is created for individualst in school from the age fo 5 years old to 21. This act allowed children to attend public school and schools were forecd to make school grouds accesible to all.
  • Tech Act (1986)

    Technology-Related Assitance Act for Individuals with Disabilities according to Crosset, G. Students with severe disabilites are allowed to use assistive technology devices in school. This in the introduction of AT to schools and school personal.
  • Reautharization IDEA 1997

    In the past students with severe disabilites were the only ones that could recieve assistive technology devices or services. In the reauthorization of IDEA in 1997 all studetns on an IEP were able to be considered for AT devices or services. During IEP's it was expected to consider anyone on an IEP or AT.
  • IDEA 2004

    In IDEA 2004 it stated that AT devices that are surgicallly implanted with be excuded. Students are be given devices as long as an IEP requried one. AT devices could be store bought or modified to students. However, medical devices were no longer part of IDEA.
